I live at Normandy Farm Estates
in Pennsylvania. It is one of 17 communities that is managed by the
ACTS corporation. ACTS (Retierment Life Communities) is dedicated to
maintaining retirement communities that make growing old a pleasurable
experience. We have a library with three computers and can surf the
internet, send e-mail, work on word processor,
or play games. We have a huge collection of video tapes and can watch them on
the cable TV, or watch the stock market. Several conscientious
residents volunteer their time to maintain an exceptional library
of books. We have exercise rooms, and instructors to show us how to
exercise. A well equipped wood working
shop and a crafts room to help with any creative project. The
Harleyville Bank is on the premises along with a gift shop and beauty parlor.
You can get a plot to do gardening if that is your desire and the fire
alarm system is state of the art with well trained security
personnel. We now have a Community Center with a Swimming Pool and huge recreation room. Our Instrutor will help us with water exercise to keep us fit. Our Residents Association works hand in hand with the ACTS
corporation so that they are sensitive to our needs, and sixty committees are
active in projects that help
the residents to keep active and caring. The Culinary department makes
dinning a pleasure, having a menu with many choices of quality meals. The
dinning room is like eating in one of the better restaurants and we
have available a personal dinning area for parties and family groups,
not to mention a cafeteria. Peace of mind is the aura that residency here
at Normandy. We have a resident nurse on duty 24 hours. Doctors come here to
examine and reassure. Personal Care units are available, when you need help
and the medical wing has been expanded to
care for us when we can no longer care for ourselves. Our director of
Social Services is constantly finding day trips and entertainers to
come and perform for us. You can tune to the In -House TV to see daily
events and food menus. The auditorium has a stage and large screen. The
projection unit mounted at the ceiling allows us to see theater size
movies. Studio, one bedroom, two bedroom,
and three bedroom apartments make up the complex and are all tied together
under one roof so you do not have to leave the building. The outside
landscaping is a pleasurable view, and a walk around the complex is a
distance of one mile to help keep you in
shape.
